Trees and Development

We have experience working on a wide range of projects; ranging from homeowners wanting to build a small extension near to an important tree, to large scale developments involving several hundred units and over a thousand trees.

British Standard Tree Survey

This is usually the starting point.  The tree survey shows the existing trees colour coded according to their suitability for retention.  From this survey it is possible to assess any likely tree related constraints and opportunities.

Arboricultural Implication Study

On many sites there are arboricultural issues such as root protection areas, shade cast by trees and areas required for re-planting and landscaping.  Through liaison with other members of the design team an arboriculturally acceptable layout can usually be found which incorporates the range of other factors which need to be considered.

Arboricultural Method Statement

Once the layout of the site has been decided the method statement can be prepared.  This will include details of any measures required to protect trees during development, such as protective fencing or arboricultural supervision.  There may also be details on special demolition or construction techniques as required.

Better late than never

Ideally it is better to involve an arboriculturist from the beginning.  However, we find that we are usually able to help at whatever stage we are involved.
